Abstract
503,261. Cylinders ; crank-chambers. WERKSPOOR, N. V. Dec. 22,1937, No. 35564. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1936. [Class 7 (ii)] In an engine.in which the crank-shaft is so heavy that resonance periods do not occur within the normal speed range, the width a of each of the big ends is less than the diameter D of the socket for the cylinder liner so that in the event of a piston seizure, the liner, piston and connecting rod can be removed together. Crank-chamber apertures 5; 10, closed by covers, provide access to the big end bolts, the piston and connecting rod being normally removed through the aperture 10.
