Abstract

1,147,985. Connecting-rods. DAVEY, PAXMAN & CO. Ltd. 11 July, 1966 [9 July, 1965], No. 29213/65. Heading F2T. A connecting rod 2 having a forked big end for use in a fork and blade rod assembly of an I.C. engine has its limbs 1 bridged by an integral semi-cylindrical member3 which co-operates with a similar member 4 bridging the limbs 5 of a bearing cap 6 to form an annular bridge piece whose inner surface 8 forms part of the big end eye 9 to provide a crankpin bearing surface and the outer surface 10 forms a bearing track for a blade rod, the cap 6 being secured as by bolts 7 to the rod 2 along extensions (11, Fig. 1), 12 of a diameter of the big end eye 9 which makes an acute angle with the longitudinal centre line of the rod.
