Abstract

963,995. I.C. engine valve gear. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Nov. 3, 1960 [Nov. 13, 1959], No. 37836/60. Heading F1B. In a valve gear in which an overhead cam shaft 1, Fig. 1, acts through a rocker arm 3 which engages a valve stem 4 at one end and has at its other end a swivel joint constituted by a first element 5 carried by the rocker arm and a second element 8 forming a support for the first element, a spring 9 is arranged to urge the first and second elements into engagement and to engage and guide the rocker arm. The spring 9, of hairpin shape, has legs passing through the joint element 8 and engaging a pin passing through the rocker arm. In another embodiment a blade spring has fork arms 13, Fig. 3 which guide and engage the rocker arm. In a further embodiment a spring 18, Fig. 4, has fork arms which guide the rocker arm and engage a cylindrical trunnion 15 which is supported in a female bearing 16.
