Abstract

568,768. Valve gear. AUSTIN MOTOR CO., Ltd.. CHARLES, H. N., and NOSSITER. C. F. Sept. 16, 1943, No. 15165. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] A rocker A for an overhead valve &c, carries at one end a small slipper E free to rock in relation thereto and arranged to contact with both the rocker A and the valve stem G, the contacting faces of the slipper and stem being flat and the slipper E having a part-conical, part-spherical recess F engaging a corresponding projection D formed on the rocker A. The projection D is arranged in a recess C which houses the upper part of the slipper and a washer J prevents complete removal of the slipper from the rocker. The washer may be omitted and the edge of the recess be burred over. Lubricant from a part of the rocker bearing B, remote from the main oil passage, is supplied to the slipper through passages H, h in the rocker. The projection D may be a separate member let into the rocker.
