Abstract

866,872. Valve gear, lubricating. AUSTIN MOTOR CO. Ltd. Nov. 25, 1959 [Aug. 15, 1959], No. 27973/59. Classes 7(2) and 7(6). [Also in Group XXV] In an overhead valve mechanism, the rocker arms 3, Fig. 1, are prevented from rotating about their respective supporting studs 2 by locating members 16, which with a working clearance co-operate with the rocker arms, and are fixed non-rotatively to the respective studs. In a modification, Fig. 4, the free end of the locating member is arranged to straddle opposite sides of a forged rocker arm 19, and in either embodiment two adjacent locating members 21 may be combined into a unitary washer device 22, or individual locating members may be formed with an integral circlip 23, Fig. 5, arranged to grip the associated stud. The hollow tappet 7 has a hardened base provided with an oil hole 11 and oil holes 12, 13 are provided in the trough of the rocker arm pressing 3.
