Abstract

875,350. Valve-gear. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Jan. 29, 1960 [Feb. 3, 1959], No. 3286/60. Class 7(6). In an overhead valve engine, a valve lever 13, Fig. 1, is universally pivoted on a vertically adjustable ball-head 12, and a plane 18 containing the pivot point 19, the centre of curvature 17 of the contact surface 16, and the valve stem support point 20, is approximately at right angles to a plane 30 containing the cam shaft axis and the centre 17. An intermediate piece 21, fitted on the valve stem, has lugs 25, or in an alternative embodiment, Fig. 4, a pressed valve lever 13<SP>1</SP> has lugs 32, to limit transverse movement of the valve lever. In a modification an hair-pin type spring 15, which secures the lever 13 to the ball head 12, may be omitted.
