Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively perform the close seating of a valve to a valve seat, by applying contruction such that the intake and exhaust valve is connected to a rocker arm, rocked by a cam mechanism, through a resilient member, and reaction force is generated by deformation of the resilient member when the valve is contacted to its valve seat. CONSTITUTION:A spherical washer 4 and stopper washer 5 are secured to the upper part of a valve stem 3 of an intake and exhaust valve 2 provided to a cylinder head part 1, and a resilient member 6 of metallic coil spring or the like and a movable spherical washer 7 are movably interposed between said washers 4 and 5. Then one end (a) of a rocker arm 8, rockable around a supporting point 9, is held between said movable spherical washer 7 and the spherical washer 4, while the other end is connected to a cam 11 through a pin 10. In this construction, when operation of the rocker arm 8 is in the closing direction of the intake exhaust valve 2, even if the valve 2 is contacted to a valve seat 14 and stopped, continuous operation of the rocker arm 8 deforms the resilient member 6 to generate reaction force, and this reaction force can increase closely attaching force of the valve 2 to the valve seat 14.
