Abstract

1,008,981. I.C. engine valve gear. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Sept. 11, 1964 [Nov. 7, 1963], No. 37180/64. Heading F1B. In an I.C. engine valve gear having a rocker arm 41 pivotable by push rod 38 about one axis and freely rotatable about a transverse axis approximately parallel to the push rod, a guide 57 is fixed in the cylinder head to restrict arcuate movement of the push rod about the transverse axis. Guide 57, e.g. of spring steel, has guide surfaces 64, 65 formed in top portion 58 and is removed to permit withdrawal of an hydraulic tappet 34 through aperture 39.
