Abstract
1,146,666. Connecting rods. DAVEY, PAXMAN & CO. Ltd. 23 June, 1966 [30 June, 1965], No. 27689/65. Heading F2T. In a fork and blade connecting-rod assembly for a V-type internal combustion engine in which the big end 1 of the fork rod is secured, as by bolts and nuts 4, 5, to the two parts 2, 3 of a split big end block having a bore 7 for a crankpin bearing shell (not shown) and an outer surface 8 to run in the bearing shell of the blade rod (not shown), the split in the big end block extends from the opposite ends of a diameter of the bore 7, which diameter makes an angle other than a right-angle with the centre line of the fork rod. As shown, the block is split along two parallel lines at right angles to the centre line of the rod, the mating edges of the split being serrated as at 9, 10. In an alternative (not shown), the block is split along extensions of a diameter of the bore 7.
