Abstract
763,247. Chairs. LORENZ, A. Nov. 27, 1953 [Sept. 24, 1953], No. 26276/53. Class 52 (2). The seat 16 of an adjustable reclining chair is pivoted at 18 to a back rest 22 itself pivoted at a point 26, below and in front of the pivot 18 to a pedestal or support, the seat towards its forward end being connected by slidable guiding means to the pedestal. An extension 34 of the back 22, below the pivot 26, may be connected to a biassing spring 36 which opposes the reclining movement. The guiding means may be a pin 30 and slot 32 or a cam and the biassing spring 36 may be replaced by linkage connected to a pivoted leg rest the weight of which provides the bias. An adjustable stop may limit the rearward movement of the back rest.
