770,169. Adjustable chairs. LORENZ, A. Dec. 11, 1953 [Oct. 14, 1953], No. 34572/53. Class 52 (2). In an adjustable reclining chair the rear of the seat 30 is pivoted at 32 to the back-rest 26 above the pivot point 28 connecting the back-rest to the support 22 and the ends of a guiding link 38 are pivoted to the seat and support respectively so that the seat front rises and the rear is lowered as the back-rest moves rearwardly. A spring 44 biases the parts towards normal sitting position or a leg-rest may be pivoted to the seat front and coupled to the guiding link so that its weight serves to bias the parts. Means may be provided to hold the parts in adjusted position.
