Abstract

763,877. Adjustable chairs. LORENZ, A. Jan. 3, 1955 [Jan. 28, 1954], No. 122/55. Class 52 (2). In an adjustable reclining chair wherein the seat 24 and back 18 are pivotally mounted on a support 10 for co-ordinated movement a pair of dependent links 32, 42 pivoted to the seat are pivotally connected by links 46, 60 to a leg rest 56, the link 46 being pivoted at 52 to the link 42 and the link 32 being coupled to the lower end of the back 18 by a pivoted link 26 so that as the back and seat are rocked rearwardly the leg rest is raised and projected from the seat. Modifications of the linkage arrangement are described according to which the back may be coupled to the forward dependent link or the actuating thrust from the back may be applied through a bell crank the ends of which abut the seat bottom and a dependent link respectively, or through a bell crank coupling linked to the back through an arm rest. Means may be provided for locking the parts in adjusted position.
