802,029. Reclining chairs. LORENZ, A. April 13, 1956 [April 21, 1955], No. 11302/56. Class 52(2) A reclining chair with back-rest 16 and seat 18 swingably mounted at 20 on a supporting frame 10 has an arm 40 pivoted to the seat and a controlling link 38, consisting of a bent bar 30 and a board 36 rigid therewith, crossing each other and connected by a pin and slot connection, the link 38 being pivoted to a guiding link 22 and a second link 26 pivoted to the support, while its other end 36 is pivoted to a leg-rest 52 and to a link 64 pivoted to the seat at 70. The arm 40 is also pivoted to a link 50 pivoted to the leg-rest 52 the movements of linkage 22, 26, 38, 40, 50, 52 being controlled in dependence on the movements of the back-rest 16 by means of a link 58 connecting the back-rest to an intermediate point of link 26 at 62. In a modification, a link connects the back-rest to link 22 instead of link 26. In a further modification, Fig. 6, the second link 226 has a rigid rearward extension 274 to which link 258 is pivoted to connect it to back-rest 216. In a still further modification, Fig. 8, the seat is connected by link 364 to the arm 330 instead of being pivoted to board 36.
