Class 52(2) In a reclining chair having a back-rest pivoted to a support, a seat pivoted to the back-rest above the pivot to the support, and a leg-rest pivoted at two spaced points to two links of a control linkage, the control linkage is moved by a double-armed lever pivoted on the support, the arms being pivoted to the linkage and linked to the back-rest respectively, and means are linked to the seat to raise its forward part as the back-rest is titled back. As shown in Fig. 1, the seat 24 and back-rest 18, interconnected at 26, are pivoted to the support 10 at 22, rearward pivoting of the back-rest acts through a connecting link 42, a bell-crank 38 and a controlling link 44 to extend the leg-rest 34. At the same time the seat 24 is raised, its movement being controlled by an arm 28 pivoted at 30, 32 to the support 10 and seat 24 respectively. The rear limit position is defined by arm 28 abutting a fixed stop 63 and the forward limit position by the seat 24 resting on stop 63. In a modified form, Fig. 2, the movement of the seat is guided by a link 128 pivoted thereto at 132 and to the lower arm of bell-crank 138 at 130 and the rear limit position is defined by the controlling link 144 abutting the fixed stop 163.
