Abstract

1,230,026. Reclining chairs. DUAL MFG. & ENG. Inc. 25 Feb., 1969 [25 April, 1968], No. 10022/69. Heading A4J. The seat 28 of a rocking/reclining chair is arranged to move forwardly and upwardly, as the back-rest 112 is pivoted, at 114, rearwardly so that lateral projections (10, Fig. 1) on the front of the seat cushions clear the ends of the arm rests. An extending leg rest 62 is coupled to a co-ordinating link 98 by a link 96 pivoted thereto at 97 and is retracted when the chair is upright. An interlocking link 116 engages the pivot pins 122 of the seat frame for this purpose. The seat is carried by links 142, 132, 128, these being pivoted to the seat at 130 and a fixed frame at 148. The chair has additional struts 162, 182 erected by links 170, 190 pivoted at 174 and 194 respectively to co-ordinating link 98 to prevent the rocking movement except when the chair is in its upright position.
