Class 52(2) In an adjustable reclining chair, in which a back rest is pivotally connected to the seat about its pivotal connection 28, 128 with the framework of the chair and a leg rest is erected into the operative position, when the back rest and seat are inclined rearwardly without relative movement therebetween, by an extension 32, 132 of the back rest connected below the pivot 28, 128 to a link member 34, 134 of linkwork which carries the leg rest and the front part of the seat, the link member 34, 134 is so connected to the remainder of the linkwork that the leg rest is erected by purely rotational movement of the link member about its pivotal connection 36, 136 to the framework and a further increase in inclination of the back rest results in either, as in Fig. 2, the pivotal connection 36 of the link member 34 or, as in Fig. 5, the pivotal connection 128 of the back rest, moving along a slot 40, 140 in a plate rigidly mounted on the framework, the relative positions of the seat and leg rest remaining unchanged. The chair is restored to the upright position by pressing down on the leg rest. Specification 763,877 is referred to.
