867,076. Reclining chairs. FLETCHER, P. S. July 31, 1957 [Aug. 3, 1956], No. 40540/60. Divided out of 863,490. Class 52(2). In a reclining chair which can be tilted to an intermediate position or to a fully-reclined position a plate 432 has a roller 401 engaging the surface 405 of a cam 407 mounted on the base 420 of the chair and a slot 403 in slidable engagement with a pin 409 mounted on base 420, a seat 452 having pins 411, 411a in slidable engagement with slots 413, 413a in the plate and a back-rest 462 pivoted to the base 420 by a link 417 is pivotally connected by a link 416 to the seat 452. The back rest also carries a pin p slidably engaged with a slot s in the side wall of base 420. A leg-rest 486 swingably mounted on the seat at 488 is controlled by a link 490 pivoted to the leg-rest at 492 and to base 420 at 494. In the intermediate position plate 432 is moved rearwardly guided by roller 401 and pin 409 which limits the tilting, link 417 abutting a stop a on base 420. Leg-rest 486 is raised by this motion. If further pressure is exerted against back-rest 462 it swings about pivot 414 on link 417, seat 452 is raised as pins 411, 411a move in slots 413, 413a and leg-rest 486 is further extended.
