Abstract
536,400. Water-tube steam boilers. FOSTER WHEELER, Ltd. April 30, 1940, No. 7729. Convention date, June 10, 1939. [Class 123 (ii)] In a boiler having upper and lower drums connected by tube banks 24, 25 through which the gases are directed by baffles 28 between the tube banks and then back in divided parallel streams over the. tube banks, the lower portions of the tubes are vertical and the upper portions inwardly inclined. Transverse baffles 41 deflect the gases downwardly as they pass through the tube banks. In a modification, the baffles 28 are spaced from the front wall instead of the back wall of the boiler to compel the gases to flow forwards and backwards before entering the tube banks.
