Abstract

373,562. Water-tube steam boilers. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd., Bush House, Aldwych, London.-(Superheater Co. ; 60, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.) Dec. 16, 1931, No. 34871. [Class 123 (ii).] In water-tube boilers having a lower drum 10 connected by banks of water-tubes to steam and water drums 12, 14, 16 a superheater 30 is disposed in the first gas pass 34 behind the front bank 18 and an auxiliary baffle 40 is located in front of it and opposite the connection between the first two passes so as to cause the gases to flow between its lower edge and the upper edge of the baffle 32 between the first and second passes. The baffle 40 may extend upward to drum 12 and be in part supported on the front of the superheater. Its lower edge is preferably at about the level of the upper edge of baffle 32.
