189,677. Ladd, G. T. Jan. 3, 1922. Water-tube boilers.-In a water-tube boiler having a lower drum 1 connected to a front upper drum 3 by two banks of tubes 6, 7, and to a rear upper drum 3 by a single bank of tubes 5, a baffle 9 between the banks 6, 7 is so spaced away from the front bank that the furnace gases flow around this bank before entering the rear bank. A baffle 10 at the top of the baffle 9 deflects the gases against the upper ends of the tubes of the front bank. The gases pass downwards between the baffle 9 and a baffle 7 at the back of the rear bank and then upwards through the bank connected to the rear upper drum. The front upper drum is arranged somewhat below the level of the rear upper drum.
