Abstract
354,121. Water-tube steam boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., Babcock House, Farringdon Street, London.-(Babcock & Wilcox Co. ; 85, Liberty Street, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 21, 1930, No. 31636. [Class 123 (ii).] In a boiler having tubes arranged around the furnace walls, the tubes are arranged in sections one above the other, and each section is separately connected with the single steam and water drum 10. The tubes 15 of the lower section on the rear wall of a furnace are connected to upper and lower headers 14, 11, which are connected to the steam and water drum by downflow and upflow tubes 12, 16. The tubes 26 of the upper section are bent over to form the roof of the furnace and are connected to upper and lower headers 36, 24, which are connected with the steam and water drum by downflow and upflow tubes 25, 37. The lower section of the front wall is arranged to form a roof 201 over the lower part of the furnace. The sections of the front and side walls are connected to the steam and water drum similarly to the sections of the rear wall by separate downflow and upflow tubes. The furnace gases pass from the furnace between the upper part of the tubes 33 on the front wall and then flow downwards over a superheater D and feed heater C to the outlet 68.
