Abstract
376,134. Steam boiler water-tubes. STIRLING BOILER CO., Ltd., 32, Farring- don Street, London.-(Babcock & Wilcox Co. ; 85, Liberty Street, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 27, 1931, No. 29817. [Class 123 (ii).] Each adjacent pair of tubes 4 of two longitudinal rows of a bank of water-tubes connected to a drum 1 are connected by Y fittings 6 and connectors 8 with holes in the drum spaced apart a distance three times that between the tubes of a row, groups of. three connectors being expanded into holes located in a single circumferential row. Each adjacent pair of tubes 5 of the pairs of longitudinal rows in succession are connected by Y fittings 6<1> and connectors 7, alternate connectors. being bent so as to enter the drum through holes in the same circumferential row as those for the intermediate connectors. Pairs of riser tubes 9 from water-tube walls are bent to enter the drum through holes in the same circumferential row, single riser tubes between each.of such pairs being connected in the usual way. In a modification in which Y fittings connect pairs of tubes in the same longitudinal row, the connectors from the Y fittings joining successive pairs in each of two rows are expanded into holes spaced apart a greater distance than that between successive connectors of a row, the holes being arranged in circumferential rows. In further rows the Y fitting connectors are expanded into holes spaced equally with the connectors.
