Abstract
240,053. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., (Deutsche Babcock & Wilcox Dampfkessel- Werke Akt.-Ges.). Jan. 17, 1925. Water-tube boilers. - In a water-tube boiler having sinuous headers 5 .. 11, 6.. 12, Fig. 2, at opposite ends of the boiler respectively connected by tubes disposed in staggered vertical rows, the headers at one end are displaced laterally relatively to those at the opposite end so that adjoining headers 5 .. 11, Fig. 4, are in communication with one another another by way of the tubes and the corresponding headers 6 .. 10 at the opposite end of the boiler. As shown in Fig, 2, the headers are connected to a pair of steam and water drums 3, 4, and in Fig. 5, the drums are replaced bv headers 13, 14 connected by enlarged tubes 15 formed with bottlenecks near their ends. The lower rows of tubes 16 are of the same diameters as the generating tubes 17 and support a baffle plate 18 which shields the steam and water tubes 15 from the furnace gases. The headers 13, 14 are disposed similarly to those of the generating tubes.
