Abstract
368,650. Water-tube steam boilers. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd., Bush House, Aldwych, London.-(Superheater Co. ; 60, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.) Aug. 5, 1931, No. 22223. [Class 123 (ii).] A superheater 38 is located in a space 36 bounded by a bank of bent tubes 16 connecting vertical and horizontal header sets 14, 18, the higher end part of a lower bank of straight tubes 28 connecting headers 26, 32, and the circulators 34 of the straight tube bank leading through the headers 18 to a cross drum 10, baffles 48, 50, 51 directing the gases after traversing the straight tubes first over the superheater and then the bent tubes. The individual superheater elements are arranged to avoid traps for liquid flowing from one header to the other so as to be completely drainable. In a modification alternate vertical rows of tubes connected to the headers 14 consist of straight tubes which extend across the space 36 to vertical headers connected directly to the cross drum. The superheater elements which in this arrangement are vertically arranged are located in the spaces between the straight tubes, their lower ends preferably extending slightly below the water-tubes.
