Abstract
371,033. Steam superheaters. STENNING, H. A. and SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd., Bush House, Aldwych, London. Jan. 17, 1931, No. 1624. [Class 123 (iii).] In a smoke-tube superheater having elements 2 secured by clamps 28 to separate saturated and superheated steam headers 11, 12 arranged respectively above and below the smoke tubes, the clamps are so secured against the opposed faces of the headers that by slackening the securing nuts 31, the elements may be drawn forwardly out of the smoke tubes without removing either the clamps from the elements or the nuts from the securing bolts 18. Each header has a longitudinal steam passage 13 and a number of steam pockets 15, which receive the ends of the elements. The securing bolts may pass through the slots 17, Figs. 1 and 3, between the pockets, the slots being open at the front of the headers to allow the bolts to pass in and out. The steam pockets may project vertically from the steam passage instead of forwardly, the slots 17, Fig. 5, being then formed with inner lateral extensions 17a receiving the heads of the bolts 18.
