Abstract
319,550. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., (Babcock & Wilcox Co.). Dec. 14, 1928. U-tube and like superheaters. - In superheaters with headers 20, 21, Fig. 2, connected by groups of tubes each header has a number of transverse baffles 28 which increase in size from the inlet end of the superheater and which so vary the area of the passage through the header as to give an even distribution of steam to the tubes. The baffles may be made up of a number of plates 31, 32, 33, Fig. 3, placed edge to edge to facilitate insert,ion through the hand-hole in a header, the plates being bolted to braces 34 having pins 36 extending through and welded in holes in the header plating. In a modification, the baffles are held in position by rods passing through holes in the baffles.
