Abstract

331,113. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., (Babcock & Wilcox Co.). July 11, 1929. Sinuous-tube superheaters for watertube boilers having a bank of inclined tubes 4 connected to downtake and uptake headers 3, 5 and circulating tubes 6 connecting the uptake headers with a steam and water drum 1, camprise tubes 12 which are expanded through the drum wall and con. nected by flanges to tubes 11 extending mto a dry pipe 8. The tubes 12 lie parallel with tubes 6 for a portion of their length and terminate beyond return bends 13 in a, cross header 14, both tubes and header being located in the space between tubes 4, 6. In a modification the superheater tubes are expanded in four rows of holes along the upper side of the. drum and are then bent twice at right angles so as to pass .between the circulating tubes near the drum after which they run in two horizontal rows as in the first embodiment.
