463,847. Water - tube steam boilers. HAWTHORN, LESLIE, & CO., Ltd., R. & W., and JOHNSON, P. B. July 10, 1936, No. 19203. [Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] In a boiler having crossing banks 1 of upflow tubes as in the Hawthorn-Armstrong boiler, a superheater 4 is inserted between the tubes of one or both of the banks. Horizontal U- tube superheater elements 5 are connected to headers 6, 8 at the sides of a tube bank, the plane of the U-bend of each element being inclined to reduce the space occupied by the superheater.
