Abstract

1,045,709. Steam generators. SULZER BROS. Ltd. Sept. 27, 1965 [Sept. 28, 1964], No. 41085/65. Heading F4A. A once-through forced-flow steam generator comprises two evaporators 1, 2 arranged in parallel between the economiser 19 and the superheater 3, the evaporator 2 being located in tubes 4 which carry superheated steam, means 27 being provided for disconnecting the evaporator 2 from the flow of working medium under part load conditions so that adequate cooling of the evaporator tubes 1 in the radiation section 1 is obtained. The tubes 4 may form a superheater or be disposed outside the flow of flue gases. Under part load conditions no working medium passes through the tubes 2 but these will not suffer damage since they are not contacted by flue gases. Feed water from an economiser 19 passes to a pipe 22 and in parallel through the evaporators 1, 2 to water separator 7, whence steam passes in succession through superheaters 3, 4, 5 and 6 and is fed to a turbine through a pipe 16. The valve 27 is closed during part-load conditions.
