Abstract
1420217 Superheaters BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd 19 March 1973 [20 March 1972] 13000/72 Heading F4A A superheater 3 has a venturi 6 situated in its inlet duct 4 and the venturi receives superheated steam from outlet duct 5 via a supply duct 7. The superheater tubes are formed from austenitic steel and the injection arrangement enables saturated steam from a separator drum 2 to be superheated to as high as 100‹ C. so as to enter the superheater tubes dry and prevent corrosion. Both the superheater 3 and vapour generator 1 are connected to a source of liquid sodium which has been heated by the primary sodium coolant of a nuclear reactor; the flow path of the sodium is shown dotted.
