Abstract
1,171,204. Raising steam in once through boilers. L. & C. STEINMULLER G.m.b.H. 27 Feb., 1967 [5 March, 1966], No. 9211/67. Heading F4A. During start up and shut down of a once through boiler, natural circulation through the tube walls 8 occurs to prevent overheating. Feedwater from line 1, after passing through economizer 4, passes through injector 6, thereby entraining recirculating water that has already passed through tubes 8, the water then being fed through downcomer 7 and lower headers 8a to the tube walls 8. The steam/water mixture produced therein, passes through upper headers 8b and line 9 to header 10, wherein trough-like deflectors 10a cause separation of the water from the steam, the former passing through line 11 back to the injector 6, and the latter passing onwards through line 13 to cooler 14 which also functions as a steam/water separator. Water from outlet head 15 of cooler 14 passes back down line 22 to be reintroduced into the downcomer 7 at point 24. The separated steam passes through line 16 to superheaters 17, 19 and steam pipe 20.
