Class 123 (ii) In a steam boiler comprising a furnace chamber 1 which is lined with steam-generating tubes 2 extending upwardly to a separator drum 3 and is provided with an outlet gas pass 9 leading to a down pass 15, the air supply from a fan 25 to the boiler is heated first by a heater 24 to which steam from a steam utilising means associated with the boiler is exhausted and then by a heater 23 in the flue-gas pass 15. A superheater 14 is located in the gas pass 9, and in the pass 15, in succession, a feedwater pre-heater 16, 17, 18, and a steaming economizer 19, 20, the steam-water mixture from the latter flowing to a longitudinal distributing channel 22 within the main water drum 6 of the boiler which is disposed slightly below the separator drum 3 and is connected to the latter by steam and water circulator tubes 4, 5 respectively.
