Abstract

537,198. Water-tube boilers; steam superheaters. STIRLING BOILER CO., Ltd., and TOWNSEND, C. W. April 4, 1940, No. 6105. [Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] Supports 28a, 28b for a sinuous-tube superheater 1 arranged between boiler tube banks 3, 4 are secured to water tubes 25, 27 bent inwardly from the tube banks into the flue pass containing the superheater. Vertical rows of superheater tubes are arranged in groups connected to heaters 9, 21 so divided by transverse partitions as to direct the steam in series flow through the groups. A support consists of side plates 29, Fig. 2 (not shown), connected by rods 30 passing between the tubes. Openings 39 providing access to the superheater are provided in the side walls of the boiler.
