Abstract
730,423. Steam or hot-water boilers. MATSUMOTO, G., MASUDA, R., and ISHIDA, T. Feb. 27, 1953 [March 5, 1952], No. 5491/53. Classes 64 (1) and 123 (2). A steam boiler, which may also be used as a hot-water boiler, comprises a cylindrical casing c which defines a combustion chamber 6 and locates a pair of slightly-inclined steam-andwater cylinders 2, 3 provided with partition plates 10, 11, the latter having water circulation gaps 17, 18 at their upper and lower ends and dividing the cylinders into front and rear portions which are connected, as shown, by banks of oblique semi-circular tubes 4<SP>1</SP>, 4. The casing c is double-walled to provide a preheating chamber 1 for feedwater which is fed thereto from a gravitation tank ,&c. through a valve 14 and then supplied to the cylinders 2, 3 by a pump 12 through a pipe 15 and pipes 13, 16 respectively. Preferably the top of the casing c is fitted with an apertured baffle 8 below a chimney 9. Steam may be withdrawn from the top of one of the cylinders, say 2, through a sinuous pipe 7 which leads through the combustion chamber 6 to an outlet and serves as a super-heater. Two or more pairs of cylinders 2, 3 may be fitted in series, one pair above another, within a common casing c.
