Abstract

475,393. Water-tube steam boilers. BAUER, G. March 17, 1937, No. 7841. [Class 123 (ii)] A boiler having upper and lower drums 1, 2 connected by groups of inclined tubes 3, 4 and with a superheater 5 between the groups is fired with liquid or powdered fuel from burners arranged at the front of a combustion chamber which is bounded at its bottom, sides and top by water tubes 9 connected to one or more longitudinal lower drums 13. The tubes 9 are connected at their upper ends to one or more drums 12 in communication with the drum 1, or they are connected directly to the drum 1. The water may be forced through the tubes 9 by a pump between the drums 2 and 13, or it may circulate through upcomer and downcomer tubes separated by a wall 15.
