Abstract

546,757. Water-tube steam boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., and SPARKS, C. H. Feb. 20, 1941, No. 2299. [Class 123 (ii)] Vertical or steeply inclined tubes 11, 12 connected to upper and lower drums 9, 10 extend along a side of and beyond a furnace chamber 2, from which the gases flow in an upward and downward course over the side tubes 11 and then through an aperture in a furnace wall to the tubes 12 beyond the furnace. The gases flow downwards and upwards over the tubes 12 and then over tubes 36 connecting the drum 9 to a short lower drum 36. The walls of the furnace and of the extension are lined with water tubes connected to the upper and lower drums Superheating tubes 21 connected to headers 22, 23 are placed between the tubes 11.
