Abstract

523,544. Water-tube steam boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Jan. 3, 1939, No. 182. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1938. [CLass 123 (ii)] The furnace wall tubes of a boiler discharge into upper drums 9, 3 parallel w i t h the furnace walls, and at least one drum 9 is a vapour separating drum which is arranged above the water-level in the steam and water drum 3 and is connected thereto by steam tubes 10 and water-draining tubes 11. The front and back wall tubes 4, 2 are connected at their lower ends to distributers 5, 1 and discharge into the drum 3. The tubes 4 are bent forwardly at their upper ends to provide space for a superheater 6. The side wall tubes 8 are connected at their lower ends to distributers 7 and discharge into the drum 9. In a modification, the front and rear wall tubes discharge into horizontal separating drum above the front wall, and the side wall tubes discharge into separating drums above each of the side walls, all three separating drums being connected by steam and water tubes to vertical steam and water drums at the front of the boiler.
