Abstract

865,984. Forced-flow steam boilers; feedwater distribution. PEARCE, A. P. Dec. 3, 1959 [June 24, 1959], No. 21595/59. Class 123(2) [Also in Group XXVI] In a water-tube steam boiler comprising two forced-circulation steam-generating circuits which have a combined steam-andwater drum 4, water tubes 7, 9, which rise from lower water drums 2, 3 and respectively line the furnace chamber and extend across the vertical pass of the boiler, are subjected respectively mainly to radiant and convective heat. A baffle 5 separates the water space of the drum 4 into two compartments 4a, 4b, feed water being supplied through a pipe 14 to the drum compartment 4a and over the baffle 5 to the compartment 4b. Forced-circulation pumps 6, 6a draw water respectively from the drum compartments 4a, 4b and supply it to the corresponding lower water drums 2, 3. Steam, entrained with water, is released in the steam space of the upper drum 4, and leaves the boiler through an outlet 12. A dual circuit pump, Fig. 3, not shown, (see Group XXVI) may be used instead of the two separate pumps 2, 3. Specification 657,799 is referred to.
