710,185. Steam boiler steam-and-water drums; raising steam. COMBUSTION ENGINEERING - SUPERHEATER, Inc. April 17. 1951 [April 22, 1950], No. 8937/51. Class 123(2) In a forced-circulation steam boiler, temperature equalization over substantially the entire inner surface of the steam drum 7 is effected by discharging the steam-and-water mixture from the steam generating tubes 16 through tubes 19 into a space 22 between said surface and an inner cylindrical baffle plate 21, the latter extending the full length of the drum and having two rows of outlets opening into steam separators 23. The boiler may include an economizer 5, terminating in a longitudinal perforated distributing pipe 9 within the drum, and a superheater 35. Circulation of water is effected by a pump 13 in the downcomer 11. The invention is also applicable to natural circulation boilers, in which case water from the downcomer is discharged by an auxiliary pump into the space 22, additionally to the steam-andwater mixture from the steam-generating. tubes 16.
