Abstract

Moderating superheat.-In a watertube boiler of the horizontal type, superheater tubes are connected directly to the front headers which are arranged horizontally and in two groups one behind the other. The water-tubes 1 are inserted at each end in square headers 2, 3 connected by tubes 6, 7. The superheater tubes 11 are connected to the upper front headers 4, and communicate with two steam collectors 12, 13. The back headers are connected to a water drum 9. The collectors are connected to the water drum 9 by a pipe 15 fitted with a valve 16. A pipe 17 with a stop valve 18 and connected to the feed-water pipe 10 opens into the superheater headers 4.
