244,539. Bennis, A. W. Sept. 25, 1924. Water-tube boilers.-In water-tube boilers a multiple connection is provided between each header and a boiler drum or between the upper and lower sections of a header, so that the cross sectional area presented to the flow of fluid is not restricted. Banks of boiler tubes 48, 49 are connected at their downtake and uptake ends by means of headers 50, 51 and 52, 53 respectively. Auxiliary headers 55 with nipple connections 56, 57 are provided in addition to the usual connections 54, and the header 51 is connected to the drum 58 by auxiliary headers 59, 60 each connected by nipples 61 to the header 51 and pipes 62, 63, 64 to the steam drum 58. A vertical header, for supplying water to the tubes 67 through tubes 70 and horizontal header 68, may be formed in two sections 65, 66 the upper section 66 extending partially around the drum 58 to which it is connected by a number of nipples or tubes 14.
