Water - tube boilers.-In a watertube boiler having groups of watertubes opening into headers connected to an upper drum, two or more upper and lower groups of tubes arranged in vertical rows are connected separately to the drum, the rows in each group being in staggered relationship with the rows of the other group or groups. The headers 3 of the lower group of tubes 2 are connected to the transverse drum 1 by pipes 4 passing between the tubes of the upper group of tubes. A partition 6 in the drum directs the water circulation first through the upper group and then through the lower group of tubes. The drum may be arranged longitudinally.
