Abstract

313,806. Superheater Co., Ltd., (Schmidt'sche Heissdampf-Ges.). Aug. 14, 1928. Smoke-tube superheaters. - Superheater headers located in the smoke box of locomotive boilers comprise two castings or half-headers 1, 2, each consisting of a longitudinal channel 3, 6 having a number of spaced transverse chambers or fingers 5, 7 projecting therefrom, so that when assembled, as shown, the channels are adjacently disposed a.t the smoke box tube plate side of the header and the forwardly projecting chambers of one casting alternate with those of the other, bolting lugs 12 being provided on each casting. Air spaces preferably remain between both the chambers 5, 7 and the channels 3, 6. The channel 6 may be disposed! above the level of the chambers 7, and assembled in front of the channel 3.
