Abstract
298,517. Sugden, T., and Fielding, A. E. July 5, 1927. Smoke-tube superheaters.-Each of the superheating tubes K, Fig. 1, inserted in the smoke tubes of a locomotive boiler is secured in openings formed in the front surface or in the front and bottom surfaces of a partitioned header A and communicating with the wet and superheated steam compartments by separate clamping plates L at each end of the tube. Jointing rings J', Fig. 5, of copper, phosphor bronze, asbestos, and metal composition or other material secured on the ends of the superheating tubes have flat, conical, or spherical surfaces engaging corresponding surfaces in the openings in the headers. Clamping plates L securing the tubes are, pressed against the jointing rings by bolts and nuts M. Specification 108,074 is referred to.
