Fire and smoke tube superheaters.-A superheater has separate interdigitated header chambers 5, 6, and the elements 9 are each formed with two loops and are so arranged that adjacent smoke tubes 3 each contain two loops belonging to two different elements 9, 10 connected at their ends to form a double element. A double a element is connected to supplementary saturated and superheated steam headers 11, or the ends of the elements forming a double element are welded to tubes connected directly to the header chambers 5, 6. The fastening bolts of the double elements are arranged between like ends of the elements, and the heads 12<b> of the bolts are placed either in the wall of the saturated steam chamber or in the wall of the superheated steam chamber, but not between the two chambers. Adjacent smoke tubes containing a double element may be arranged diagonally instead of horizontally as shown,
