Abstract
266,566. Shaw, C. M. May 5, 1926. Cooling.-A water wall is provided at each side of the combustion chamber of a water-tube boiler, consisting of vertical tubes L, M connected at their upper ends to a transverse upper drum A and at their lower to longitudinal headers N connected to a lower drum D. The portion M of the tubes is connected to the upper drum' A by way of a header R. The tubes may extend at their lower ends through the side walls of the combustion chamber to external headers. The portion L of the tubes is expanded into tube holes in the drum A, some of which would ordinarily serve for the front bank or cross tubes. A water screen F across the ash hoppers is connected through headers G, H to drums B, E.
