Abstract
368,547. Water-tube steam boilers. JOHNSON, J., Green Shutters, The Highway, Sutton, Surrey. April 1, 1931, No. 9892. Addition to 288,470, [Class 123 (ii), Steam generators]. [Class 123 (ii).] In a boiler having upper and lower drums a, b connected by outwardly curved tubes d, e which together with end wall tubes r completely enclose the combustion chamber as described in the parent Specification, the gases pass from the combustion chamber to the uptake h an one side of the boiler across an inner bank of tubes d, an outer bank of tubes c, and a superheater f between the groups, the inner bank being secured to the drums at or near to the central vertical plane of the drums. A flue space h extends outside the tube bank c from the bottom of the bank to the uptake. The arrangement of the tubes on the two sides of the drums is not symmetrical, and the number of groups of end wall tubes r on one side of the drum at one or both ends is not the same as the number of groups on the other side.
