Abstract
528,658. Water-tube steam boilers. REDDIE, L. N. (Machinfabriek Geb. Stork & Co. N.V.). May 11, 1939, No. 14137. [Class 123 (ii)] Water-tube steam boilers fired by liquid or gaseous fuel comprise two outer and two inner tube nests connecting an upper drum 3 with lower drums 1, 2, and forming two outer combustion chambers 8, 10, and a central space 9, the inner tube nests 5, 6, being free from baffles and traversed by furnace gases which then flow between the lower drums to air-jacketed flues 24, 25 outside the drums and outer tube nests 4, 7. A superheater 13 is located in tube nest 4 only and at starting up chamber 10 only may be fired. Part of the furnace gases may be caused to traverse tube nest 4 and a flue 22 under control of a damper 23. An air heater 27 may be arranged between the lower drums.
