Abstract
468,932. Water tube steam boilers. SCHMIDT'SCHE HEISSDAMPF - GES. Jan. 1, 1937, No. 86. Convention date, Jan. 3, 1936. [Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] In a boiler having upper and lower drums 1, 2 connected on one side of the furnace by a bank of tubes 3 and on the other side by tubes 4 heated mainly by radiant heat, a superheater 7 and a feedwater 8 are arranged in the bank of the tubes, and means are provided to allow the furnace gases to byepass the superheater, particularly when starting up. The gases may be allowed to pass under the control of a damper from the top of combustion chamber directly into the chimney, or they may flow downwards through a flue 23 into the space container the heaters through an opening below the superheater and controlled by a damper 24. An air heater 10 is arranged beyond the feed heater. Two boilers are placed side by side and deliver their furnace gases into a common uptake.
