Abstract
482,904. Heating feedwater. TANSLEY, G. E. Oct. 12, 1936, No. 27656. [Class 64 (i)] To prevent condensation of flue gases on the cold tubes of a feedwater heater 6 when starting up, the gases being then directed into the chimney without passing over the heater, hot water is drawn by a pump from the boiler drum 5 through a pipe 3 and supplied through a pipe 7 into the feed at the heater inlet 6a, and when the temperature of the tubes has been raised, a cock 10 in the pipe 3 is closed and a cock l in a pipe 9 is opened to allow the pump to draw hot water from the outlet of the heater for supply to the inlet. The gases are directed over the heater by opening a damper 16 and closing a damper 15 beyond the heater.
